Current Halimeda research

current Halimeda research goals

To document the distribution of H. kanaloana around Maui, Lana'i, Kaho'olawe, and Moloka'i (the Maui Nui island complex).

To understand the fundamental biology of the species by documenting H. kanaloana abundance, growth, plant longevity (lifespan), photosynthetic efficiency, response to disturbance over a wide range of temporal and spatial scales, and observe associated organisms.

To understand the nutrient relations (uptake and output) of H. kanaloana in soft sediments.
