current Halimeda research goals
To document the distribution of H. kanaloana around Maui, Lana'i, Kaho'olawe, and Moloka'i (the Maui Nui island complex). |
To understand the fundamental biology of the species by documenting H. kanaloana abundance, growth, plant longevity (lifespan), photosynthetic efficiency, response to disturbance over a wide range of temporal and spatial scales, and observe associated organisms. |
To understand the nutrient relations (uptake and output) of H. kanaloana in soft sediments. |
