Dissertation Title:
Ethnomycology in the Cook Islands

Personal Statement:
My passion is for the environment and in particular the relationship between plants and people. This passion has shaped my career goals towards a PhD degree in Ethnobotany at the University of Hawaii. This experience will provide me with a tool kit of research and analytical skills that will enable me to work with my own people in New Zealand. It will also provide me with further personal and professional skills, which will allow me to teach and mentor young Maori scientists in the future.

Awards:
Fulbright-Ministry of Research, Science and Technology Graduate Award, 2006.
