Dissertation Title:
To be announced

Statement
I am broadly interested community ecology of coastal wetlands and near shore marine habitats. My previous research has focused on analyzing abiotic and biotic factors limiting plant and animal species distributions in temperate mangrove and salt marsh habitats in California and Australia. Here in Hawaii I am interested in studying ecology of invasive 'Red mangrove', Rhizophora mangle. More specifically, I am interested in how the mangroves are affecting surrounding near shore communities and exploring the ecological impact of their displacement of native Hawaiian wetlands. I will be primarily focusing on issues such as biodiversity, productivity, trophic structure, and ecosystem services along with factors affecting distribution of these habitats. I ultimately hope that my work will contribute to management decisions in these areas.
