Dissertation Title:
To be announced

Statement
Currently, I am working on developing a dissertation project that focuses on the ecology of marine algae on coral reefs. My study will include aspects of physiology-ecology of brown macroalgae. More specifically, I am interested in competitive interactions between native species of Sargassum and the invasive alga Gracilaria salicornia. Past research has focused on the feeding ecology of a herbivorous kelp forest snail. I am also interested in the intertidal zone and I have been involved in several projects which have monitored key abundances of organisms along temperate rocky shores. Through my NSF Fellowship, I am involved in a collaboration with other fellows to involve K-12 students in exploring and monitoring life along Hawaii’s tropical intertidal zone (OPIHI-Our Project in Hawaii’s Intertidal).
