Dissertation Title:
To be announced
Personal Statement:
My personal interests include invasive species biology and management, rare plant species conservation, native
plant restoration, and human impacts on plant community dynamics. My previous research focused on the restoration
of three native bunchgrasses in an invaded coastal California grassland. I was interested to see if native
bunchgrasses were capable of establishing, growing, reproducing, and surviving in an invaded coastal grassland.
Currently, I am interested in the mechanisms underlying the transition from tropical to temperate invasive species
along elevational gradients on the Big Island and Maui. I am hoping to develop a dissertation project that focuses
on identifying the aboitic and biotic mechanisms that create this transition. In addition, I am hoping to use this
data to predict future patterns of invasions on the Big Island and Maui under climate warming.
