Statement
I have been interested in the effects of global
climate change (solar ultraviolet radiation and enhanced CO2) on
terrestrial plant processes and ecosystem function for over 20 years.
This has involved work with both agriculturally important crop plants
such as soybean and rice, as well as native Hawaiian plant species
collected along an elevational gradient. Plant adaptations to such
environmental changes involves molecular, biochemical, physiological
and morphometric responses. Some of these responses are species
specific and many have important indirect effects on tropic dynamics
and structure.
