Zeiss Photomicroscope Check-Off List

| General Viewing & Photomicroscopy | |
| Focus on specimen with Low Power Objective (2.5X, 4X or 6.3X). | |
| Focus Oculars (especially the one with the photo reticule). The Cross-Hair is a Double Line! | |
| Swing up High Power Condenser Lens | |
| Change Objective to 10X or 16X. | |
| Focus on Specimen. | |
| Move Specimen out of the field of view. | |
| Make sure that Condenser Iris is Completely OPEN. | |
| Close Field Diaphragm COMPLETELY. | |
| Focus the Condenser so that Field Diaphragm is as SMALL as possible. | |
| Center the Condenser. | |
| Expand the Field Diaphragm JUST BEYOND the Field of View. | |
| Carefully Adjust the Condenser Iris (16X and above). | |
| Focus on the Specimen | |
| Compose the Picture by locating the Image Area on the Photo Reticle. | |
| Rotate the Stage if necessary to get the correct orientation. | |
| Be sure that a blank frame of Film is ready to be exposed in the camera. If not, Advance the film by pressing the Film Advance Button and winding on one Frame with the Film Advance Lever. |

| Turn the Illuminator
knob so that the needle coincides with 2.5 for Commercial
Slides Turn the Illuminator so that the needle coincides with the Red Line for Hand & Cryotome Sections. |

| Press the Shutter Button on the Light Meter & the Small Red Light should blink. | |
| Reduce the Illumination so that your eyes are not damaged. | |
| Fill out the entry in the Data Sheet. | |
