Start with a Typical Parenchyma Cell

Add a Casparian Strip

Stack-1: The Casparian Strip is
united between each Cell. The Suberin permeates
the Primary Cell Wall and Pectins of the Middle Lamella
to form a solid seal.

Keep on Stacking!!!

OK! OK! I got it!!!!!!!

Add a stack to the Left!! |

Add another Stack and so on!!!!

I separated these two cell stacks to emphasize that the Casparian
Strip forms an unbroken barrier to Apoplastic movement. Molecules
must enter the Plasmalemma to get to the other side. This means that the movement
of water and solutes comes under Biological Control.
