Sample Paths There are X general paths that can be followed for light microscopic analysis. 1] Fresh Material is sampled directly 2] Material is Fixed & preserved in aqueous Formaldehyde 3] Material is Fixed & preserved in aqueous FAA (Formaldehyde, Acetic Acid & Alcohol) 4] Material is Fixed and preserved for Electron Microscopy. This usually involves the use of Formaldehyde & Glutaraldehyde followed by an Osmium treatment plus copious rinsing. Paths 2-4 involve toxic substances! |
