Terminalia catappa L.
false kamani, tropical almond, Indian almond

This evergreen tree rarely reaches heights over 15 m. It shades out all other species. The seeds are dispersed by man and probably by water. Adaptation to fire is unknown. It has not been evaluated for biological control and is considered a desirable shade tree by many people.

The plant is confined to mesic and wet coastal habitats on all major islands.
