Bruguiera gymnorrhiza L.
oriental mangrove
Rhizophoraceae

This mangrove grows to 15 m height just inland of Rhizophora mangle swamps. It shades out all other species. Its fire tolerance is not known but fire is unlikely in a tidal swamp. It has not been evaluated for biological control.

This coastal plant is known from Oahu and Molokai. It is spreading rapidly in one or two areas. The flowers are used to make leis.
