A. sandwicense	Artificial Hybrid	D. plantaginea

This artificial intergeneric hybrid bears a striking similarity to the greensword, A. grayanum. Silverswords and Dubautia plantaginea are sympatric on both E Maui and W Maui where greenswords occur, suggesting the possibility of this sort of origin for A. grayanum.  The mean pollen stainability of two individuals of this combination was 29%.  The maximum chromosome pairing configuration observed in this combination was 11_II + 1 M₆.
