This is a rare hybrid combination occurring in very low numbers in the upper Hana Rainforest of E Maui. The plant on the right was grown in cultivation from cuttings taken from the field. The mean pollen stainability of 6 samples was 25%. The maximum chromosome pairing configuration during meiosis is 10II + 2M4.
