A. grayanum	Natural Hybrid	D. plantaginea

This is a rare hybrid combination occurring in very low numbers on the summit of W Maui. It has not reported from E Maui but the parental species are also locally sympatric there.  A comparable hybrid combination has also been artificially synthesized.  The specimen show here was cultivated from a cutting collected in the field.  This natural hybrid had a pollen stainability of 28% and a maximum chromosome pairing configuration of 12_II + 1M₄ during meiosis.
