naturalized in Kilauea Forest Reserve and the vicinity of Thurston Lava Tube,
Hawai'i (Wagner et al. 1990: 997).

Appearance
This is an erect shrub
that sometimes grows to the size of a small tree, from 3 to 8 m tall
(Wagner, et al. 1990: 997).

leaves are arranged opposite or found in whorls with 3 to 4 leaves per
node (Wagner et al. 1990: 997).

The berries are dark

History
The first
naturalized collection was made in 1966 (Wagner et al. 1990: 997).
It is most likely to be found in the wet forest (Wagner et al. 1990: 997).
