Frequently Asked Questions

What do I do if I need to leave the island?
If you are working for UH at the time of your absence (as a teaching assistant, etc), you must complete a personal travel form found in the Botany main office (see secretary). This even applies to trips during an academic break if your contract specifies this as “on-duty” time. For most, the “on-duty” period ends after spring commencement. The time taken off should be made up after commencement.
How do I announce a special seminar such as a thesis or dissertation defense?
Email the following seminar information to Grad Chair Kim Bridges (kim@hawaii.edu) with at least a couple of weeks lead time. You may also post flyers with the same information on Botany Department bulletin boards.
* Your Name
* Seminar Location
* Time
* Title
* Purpose (defense, proposal, etc)
* Names of Committee Members
