Tenth Annual
Beatrice Krauss Fellowship Competition

 

PURPOSE This fellowship fund is established in honor of Beatrice Krauss by her friends and associates to acknowledge her many contributions to Hawai`i.  It is intended to assist graduate students in Botany with expenses associated with obtaining a graduate level degree.
ELIGIBILITY Graduate students majoring in Botany
CRITERIA
  1. Academic merit
  2. Financial need as demonstrated by the proposal budget.
  3. In situations involving equally meritorious proposals, preference may be given to a student whose emphasis is Ethnobotany or who intend to pursue a career or research in the field of Ethnobotany.
CONDITIONS
OF AWARD
This year it is anticipated that multiple awards will be made in the range of $500 - $3,000.

Funds may be used to cover the cost of tuition, books, fees, supplies, research, and travel associated with the obtaining of the degree.

APPLICATION Applications must be submitted by October 1, 2002, to the Chair, Department of Botany, University of Hawai`i, and should include a description of research goals, a budget and other pertinent details in three pages or less. Applications must be endorsed by a faculty sponsor.
NOTIFICATION
OF AWARD
It is anticipated that the recipients of the next Krauss Fellowship awards will be announced by October 31, 2002.
