Botany 606: Graduate Research Skills


D e s c r i p t i o n


The primary purpose of this course is to provide new graduate students in Botany with a basic set of skills and background knowledge that will prepare them for advanced research and training in Hawai`i.

Students will be exposed to the different botanical research areas being conducted through the University with faculty presentations on current research projects. There will be opportunities to learn how botanists use computers and other equipment through lectures, hands-on laboratory and field practice and self-directed, on-line lessons. field skills will be taught in conjunction with interactive discussions of major Hawaiian biotic communities and important plants in field settings.
