ISLAND OF MOLOKAI

papohaku beach-south

A large boulder field was found at the southern most end of Papohaku beach creating a small point. This area was very rough and heavily exposed to surf. There were some houses on a bluff just above this point overlooking the water. A few small algal specimens were collected from the intertidal boulder field at this site. There was however, no evidence of any alien species at this site.

Table 1.  Information regarding site characteristics and alien species abundances. The  number recorded for each alien species of algae is a ranking of the abundance of that species at each given site. Impact ranking values range from 0 (not present) to 10 (100% cover).
