What does the 'Ahahui do?

The 'Ahahui Malama i ka Lokahi endeavors to:

• Provide educational materials on our areas of concern
• Draft policy for stewardship of the land
• Research ecological precepts and practices toward ecosystem preservation
• Research Hawaiian cultural practices toward ecosystem protection
• Testify in support of conservation objectives
• Provide other services (involving Hawaiian species/ecosystems)

There are three main areas of concern for the 'Ahahui:


1. Malama (Environmentally responsible behavior and stewardship)
2. Ea (Hawaiian cultural values, rights, and practices)
3. 'Ike kaiaola (Ecological knowledge and concepts)

All of our efforts in public education, advocacy, active fieldwork, and research strive to strike a balance between the three areas.
