Travel Botany Department - Facilities Guide

Travel

If you have a University appointment (e.g., faculty, teaching assistantship or research assistantship), you are required to apply for travel before you take a trip during the academic year. if you don't, you could get in serious trouble! Note that this regulation applies even if you travel on your own funds.

You also have to complete a travel form when you return, if any university funds have been spent on your travel.

Travel advances are available for trips that are being paid out of university funds, but you must apply at least one month before your trip.

Check with Gerry Ochikubo regarding forms, deadlines and permission requirements.

Travel Funds

The department does not have funds for travel, even between the islands. Possible sources of funding for graduate students include:

Buying Tickets
