Permits
The University requires that all research-related SCUBA diving be done only by properly certified divers. They offer a permit program to qualify for certification.
A physical examination is part of the permit requirement.
Diving Equipment
There are tank filing facilities on Coconut Island. See Dr. Celia Smith.
Hyperbaric Treatment Center (Bends)
The University operates a hyperbaric treatment facility. We hope that this is one facility that you will never need to use!
Safety, Injuries
Please don't take glass collecting jars or containers on collecting trips. A small slip can cause a great deal of damage. If you are injured, make sure that you report your injury in order to make sure that your medical insurance properly covers your costs.
