Emergency Operator (dial: 9-911)

This is the City emergency number and is used to summon City police, ambulance and fire personnel. If you call for off-campus help, make sure you also notify campus security right away (dial: 0 or x6911)! Security (dial: 0 from 7:30-4 M-F or x6911 24 hours)

Campus Security provides assistance for all situations involving the protection of life and property. The sorts of incidents handled by Campus Security include fire, disturbance (noise, fights), injury or accident, crime (assault, theft), motor vehicles on pedestrian walkways, breaking University rules, someone or something that is suspicious, or any illegal activity.

    Lockout

    If you lock yourself out of your office, or a classroom needs to be opened, call Campus Security (dial 0 or x6911). Be prepared to produce your university idenfication.

    Facilities

    With any facilities problem, work through the Department Office, unless it is an after-hours emergency.

    Interior problems, such as a burst pipe, sparking wire, toilet overflow) are handled by the Facilities Planning and Management Office (Emergency x7134, or after-hours x8968). Outside buildings (building exteriors, night lights, sprinklers, and walkways) are under the supervision of the Facilities Planning and Management Office (Emergency x7134). The Landscaping and Grounds Management Office (Emergency x7922) is in charge of building exteriors, outside pest control, litter, trash containers, tree trimming and vegetation maintenance.

    Elevators

    If you are stuck, remember that a phone is located in each of the elevators. Call someone!

    If you hear the elevator alarm, report this to the Department Office. They will coordinate the rescue.

    Environmental Health and Safety Office (x8660, 8591, 6805)

    You must report any toxic spills or fumes, or any hazardous conditions immediately. The Environmental Health and Safety Office can help with the storage and disposal of flammable materials, poisons, or anything that can injure. Their responsibilities include microbiological safety, radiation, SCUBA diving, sanitation, asbestos and general OSHA and health regulations.

    Custodial Services

    The custodial staff is responsible for cleaning up spilled material, floor cleaning, ceiling lighting, blackboard supplies and maintenance, emptying wastebaskets, and maintaining the restrooms. The Custodial Message Center number is x8265. After hours, contact Custodial Services (8963) or the Custodial Supervisor (946-0607).

    AudioVisual Services

    The projection and sound systems in the major campus auditoriums are maintained by the Center for Instructional Support (x8075). These rooms include: Art 132, Bil 150 & 152, BusAd A101 & A102, Craw 103 & 105, Gar 103, HIG 110, Kuy 101, MSB 100 & 114, PSB 217, Spald 155 and Web 101.

    Traffic (including towing)

    Did your car, bike or moped disappear? It may not have been stolen. If you have parked illegally, or have an illegal permit, your transportation may be locked up in a campus storage area. Call Campus Security (O or x6911) to find out.
